If there’s one thing that could connect bestfriends easily, that’s FOOD. You eat out. You try out the newly opened restaurants together. You binge-watch Netflix series with your favorite delivery foods. And, you most likely go to parties and other social gatherings together. 

But after all those food escapades you’ve gone to together, have you ever really thought about cooking for your best friend in the world? Every 30th of July is actually celebrated all over the globe as the International Day of Friendship. So this is the perfect occasion for you to finally express your sincere gratitude and love to that person(s) who have been with you through thick and thin-- literally and figuratively, that is.

Parmesan Fish Fingers

Do you and your best friend have a thing for munchies? Whether you’re having a game night, movie binge, or a steady wine sesh with your buddy, he or she will definitely love these crispy and cheesy fish fingers dipped in honey mustard or spicy mayo.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 lb. cod fillet, skin removed

  • 3 egg whites, whisked

  • 1/2 cup Parmesan, grated

  • 1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs

  • 3/4 tsp. garlic powder

  • 3/4 tsp. oregano

  • Cooking spray

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Prep your fish by seasoning with salt and pepper. Cut the cod into fish sticks that are around 1 inch wide.

Then, mix together the Parmesan, Panko, garlic powder, oregano, and paprika. Dip the fish sticks in the eggs and then press into the Parmesan Panko mixture. Place on your prepared baking sheet.

Spray the fish sticks with cooking spray on top. Cook for 10-12 minutes until breadcrumbs are browned and dish is cooked through. Serve with 2-3 dipping sauces in ramekin cups for more fun.

Yogurt Sandwich

If you have that friend who annoyingly checks the nutrient contents and counts the calories of every single food before eating, then make him/her this one. It’s a perfectly healthy sandwich recipe that uses yogurt and multigrain bread to delight the taste buds of any diet-conscious friend.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/4 cup yoghurt (curd)

  • 1 tablespoon chopped capsicum ( green pepper)

  • 1 tablespoon chopped tomato

  • 1 dash powdered black pepper

  • 2 slices of bread

  • 1 tablespoon grated carrot

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon tabasco sauce

Keep yogurt for 15 minutes in a tea strainer. Mix 1 tbsp each of carrot, tomato and capsicum with the thick yogurt. Add mustard, Tabasco, salt and pepper. Sandwich the slices with the yogurt mixture. Brown both sides of the sandwich on a non-stick pan on medium heat. You may add more filling or topping as you or friend wishes. 

Added tip: If your friend says he/she is too busy at work, then surprise him/her by packing these sandwiches in nice food containers and send these to their place of work.





Asian Chicken Noodles

Have that friend who just can’t live without Chinese food takeouts? Yeah, we all have. So what better way to make him/her happy on Friendship Day is to make his/her favorite! Whether you’re planning on making this for lunch or dinner, we bet your friend is going to appreciate!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 150 gm boiled fresh noodles

  • 2 medium chopped onion

  • 6 cloves chopped garlic

  • 3 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • 100 gm washed & dried minced chicken

  • 3 sliced & slit green chilies

  • 3 tablespoon tomato ketchup

  • 1 teaspoon green chilli sauce

  • 4 tablespoon refined oil

  • 1/3 cup chopped spring onions

  • 1 medium chopped capsicum ( green pepper)

  • 1/4 cup halved spring onion whites

  • 2 tablespoon red chilli sauce

Heat oil in a wok on medium flame and add chopped garlic along with slit green chillies, stir-fry for a few seconds. Then add chopped onions and fry for a minute over medium flame.

Now add minced chicken and cook it for 2 to 3 minutes. Add a little salt in the chicken to cook faster, and keep stirring in between. Add half the quantity of chopped spring onions and capsicum, and stir-fry it for half a minute on medium flame.


Then add the green chilli sauce, red chilli sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar and soy sauce in the stir-fried vegetables. Mix all the vegetables well and cook for another half a minute. Now add the spring onion roots and salt and fry it for a few seconds.


Finally add the boiled noodles, mix gently with all the veggies and let them cook for a minute on medium-high flame, keep stirring/tossing. Turn off the flame and garnish with chopped spring onions. Hot and delicious chicken noodles are ready to be served.

Microwave Chocolate Cake ala Mode

For friends who just can’t get enough of their sweet tooth cravings, this recipe is the easiest yet most delightful thing you can make. This soft and creamy cake topped with melting ice cream is perfect for afternoon tea time, dinner dessert, or even as a midnight snack! Go and try this out.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 100 gm cooking chocolate

  • 100 gm brown sugar

  • 2 beaten egg

  • 2 teaspoon cocoa powder

  • 2 tablespoon icing sugar

  • 100 gm butter

  • 100 gm all purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 pinch salt

  • Vanilla or Mocha ice cream

  • Chocolate or caramel syrup

Grease a 22cm silicone microwavable cake pan with a little oil and place a circle of baking parchment in the bottom. Then, add the chocolate, butter and sugar into a glass bowl. Place it in the microwave and cook on high power for 30 seconds or until melted. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.


Transfer it in the cake tin and microwave for 5 minutes or until just set. Allow it to cool. Sprinkle cocoa powder (or icing sugar), place 1-2 scoops of ice cream, then drizzle with syrup. Enjoy!
