Breathe Clean Healthy Air

If your family’s health is your top priority, then using charcoal bags should be a no-brainer. Bamboo charcoal deodorizers absorb excess moisture and odor-causing bacteria instead of masking the nasty smells with a stronger perfumed scent. They also act as an all-natural dehumidifier that improves indoor air quality round' the clock.

Because of the bamboo charcoal is packed with negative ionic charges, it manages to absorb moisture and trap harmful pollutants and allergens in the air. With these charcoal bags, you’ll not only say goodbye to funky odors but to mold, mildew, allergy-causing bacteria, and viruses.

The Safer Alternative

Conventional air fresheners and deodorizers all have this warning on them that says: ‘Keep out of reach of children’. Why? Because most commercially-sold deodorizers contain potentially harmful chemicals that can cause damaging side effects to your health.

Our charcoal bags are not like those commercially-sold deodorizers. The Charcoal Bags from California Home Goods use all-natural components that won't pose health risks to your and your loved ones. Our mission is to provide you with an all-natural alternative to an indispensable household essential -- without the hefty price tag!

Once your charcoal bag has reached it's shelf-life, you can take it apart and use the particles as fertilizer and use the bag to hold various knick-knacks around the house -- with a dependable charcoal bag at your disposal, nothing gets thrown in the trash!

1000x1000-5.jpg

the ultimate penny-saver for the smart homeowner

Charcoal bags are quickly gaining attention due to their zero-waste appeal. Unlike commercially-sold deodorizers, charcoal bags are proven to work for up to two years - all you have to do is recharge them under direct sunlight every two weeks.

Commercially-sold deodorizers are designed to run out so you can keep buying them over time - they can turn into a recurring expense you'd rather live without. Charcoal bags are guaranteed to last 100% longer than your average deodorizer without the hefty price tag.

If you want to spend your household budget more wisely, you need to start investing on reliable home essentials that won't burn a hole in your pocket in the long run.

With all the gadgets and gizmos we have today, it’s quite challenging to bring good ol’ family meals back to the way they used to be. But worry not, for we’ve got you covered! Let our Stainless Taco Holders make meal time more special for you.

Getting everyone involved during meal preparation can turn regular dinners into a fun bonding experience for the entire family! Just because you're eating in for the weekend doesn't mean you can't spoil your loved ones to their favorite dish - you just have to be a little creative with your presentation.

Turn regular meal time into a bonding opportunity for your entire family with these tips.

Make meal planning everyone’s business.

1000x1000-3.jpg

If what’s served at the dining table isn’t suited for everyone’s tastes, then it’s but obvious that not all would be excited for meal time -- so make everyone participate. Ask family members to pick out a dish they want to see on the dining table or get everyone involved in planning weekday dinners ahead of time!

Sit down with your family and find out what they want to see on the dinner table. Since you're staying in, you can be more experimental about your dish selection without going over budget - because staying in and cooking dinner will always be cheaper than eating out (and a lot healthier, too!).

If you make a conscious effort to find out and accommodate everyone's preference, your entire family can begin enjoying quiet  Friday night dinners at home instead of eating out.

1000x1000-2.jpg

Let everyone help.

Cooking and eating with your entire family can get messy -- but it’s totally fun and engaging! If you have older children, let them measure ingredients or cut up some veggies. For the younger kids, let them wash fruits and vegetables, set the table, and decorate the food.

Getting everyone involved in the kitchen can encourage kids to spend less time in front of their computers or mobile devices and be more engaged with the entire family. Teaching them to manage the kitchen as early as possible will help them learn valuable life skills that will come in handy once they grow up.

HOW TO DO IT:

  1. Measure each ingredient carefully.

Why You Should Have Plants Indoors

Featuring the California Home Goods 3-Tier Hanging Planters

    1200x620.jpg

Not too long ago, we used to think that plants only belong outside, in the garden. But with the current trends on growing succulents, kitchen herb gardens, and green walls, we all know now that plants are just as useful indoors as they are outdoors.

However, plants are more than just affordable or natural design elements that add color, focal point, texture and depth to any interior aesthetic. Do you think they add more plants inside malls, office buildings, and airports today just because they look good? Absolutely not!

Here are some of our favorite reasons why having plants inside the home, office, or business is good for you:

    1.jpg

    Mood & Energy Boosters

Plants have been proven to help lighten up and boost our mood not just because they give a lovely sight. Several studies have shown that plants help us feel better.

The more plants and flowers in a certain place, people have less negative feelings, stress, and anxiety and eventually improving their mood and boosting their energy.

    Productivity & Concentration Enhancers

Because plants effectively provide feelings of calm and relief, they are also able to help us improve our focus, sharpen our memory, and increase our productivity.

In fact, one study has shown that visual contact with greenery reduces the stress and fatigue that result from intense concentration. And by creating a restorative environment, indoor plants help us get back on track immediately by reducing tension and refreshing our brain.

    2.jpg

    3.jpg

    Health & Wellness Keepers

Plants contribute a lot in keeping a healthy environment, not just because they clean the air by removing VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and toxins.

Many studies have also shown that putting more plants indoors decreases the occurrence of colds, coughs, sore throats, dry skin, and other common diseases. In fact, hospitals add more plants in their rooms because research studies have proven that while plants shield us from viruses, they also help speed up recovery rates of patients. .

More than just green (or colorful) living things that make interiors a lot beautiful, plants give us so much more. And the good thing is, gone are the days when you need to have a green thumb to make an indoor garden work. With an accessory like the California Home Goods 3-Tier Hanging Planters, it’s totally easy! Buy for your home, office, or business today!

    1000x1000-1.jpg

Prep the chicken breasts by seasoning them with salt and pepper. Then, one by one, place each breast inside a ziplock bag. Pound each chicken breast to your desired thickness or until ¼ in.

    1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Coat each chicken breast with flour, salt, and pepper. You may also use ziplock bags to shake easily coat all the chicken breasts evenly.

    2. Fry the chicken breasts with olive oil and a little butter to brown each side. After frying, transfer the chicken to your oven-safe dish. Cover with aluminum foil and leave it in the oven.

    3. Keep the stove’s heat to medium. If there isn’t much oil left from frying the chicken breasts, add more butter. Brown your mushrooms until tender. Add the garlic for about 1 minute or until their juices are fragrant enough.

    4. Add the Marsala wine and scrape the bottom of the pan to remove any browned pieces. Add the broth and simmer until reduced by half and starting to thicken, about 15 minutes.

    5. Add the cream and cook the sauce until it thickens perfectly. Get the chicken from your oven and put it into the pan. Evenly coat each breast with the sauce. Let the whole thing cook more for about 2-3 minutes.

    6. With the baking dish you used for the chicken in the oven, you can now plate up. You may use angel hair pasta, cauliflower rice, or even a classic caesar salad to go with your Chicken Marsala.

    7. Garnish with parsley and lemon. Enjoy!

    1000x1000.jpg

    Infection Prevention

As with all the other parts of our bodies, good health starts from cleanliness and proper hygiene. So besides removing all the deep seated dirt, removing dry skin and preventing callus formation, scrubbing your feet will help you avoid many infections that result from clogged pores.

    Restful Sleep

Rubbing and scrubbing our feet is without a doubt relaxing. After a hard day’s work, who wouldn’t want to relieve stress, right? But aside from rejuvenating us, foot scrubbing will also help treat insomnia. By feeling nurtured, calm, and stress-free, you’ll be able to sleep faster and better.

    1000x1000-2.jpg

    1000x1000-3.jpg

    Circulation Boost

Blood circulation becomes limited when there’s stress. That’s why our whole bodies feel exhausted when it’s only our feet that are really tired. So because foot scrubbing is also a form of massage, by doing it, you also stimulate your reflexes and acupressure points. As a result, you’re allowing the blood to flow more freely throughout your body.

    EASY DETOX

    1000x1000-4.jpg

Exfoliating your feet is also a form of detox just like acupressure foot soaks and foot masks. Besides getting rid of the deep-seated dirt, odor, and dry skin, through foot scrubbing, you can also draw out surface fungus and negatively charged toxins. With the right agents (e.g. salts, essential oils, etc.), you’ll also get other benefits like boosting your immune system, improving digestion, and more.

Just like what we said, you don’t really have to go to the spa more often just so you can take care of your feet properly. You can do just that and experience the same benefits even in the comforts of your own bathroom -- so order your California Home Goods Acupressure Foot Scrubber Mat today!

Healthy Bento Lunch Box Ideas for Kids

    1200x620.jpg

Preparing your kids’ lunch with the California Home Goods Kids Bento Lunch Box Set is indeed a great tool that will not only help you prepare your kids’ lunch in a fun and easy way, but it’ll also help you train them to eat healthy.

Our Bento Lunch Box specifically has 5 compartments so you could let your kids eat healthy but with variety. Allot each compartment for a specific food-type so it’ll be easier for you to plan their meals, just like this:

    1. PROTEIN Main

    2. CARBS Side Dish

    3. VEGGIE Side Dish

    4. FRUIT Dessert

    5. OTHERS - dips, sauces, favorite snack, sweets (think of it as a bonus compartment for your kid!)

To help you get started, we’ll give you 3 easy recipes. You can definitely use all three to complete one lunch meal, or mix and match them for different school days, it’s totally up to you.

    1000x1000-1.jpg

    Crispy Ham & Cheese Roll-ups

Instead of the classic ham & cheese sandwiches that your kids are used to, give it a little twist: make ‘em crunchy! What you’ll need are the usual ingredients you use to make ham & cheese sandwich, plus, egg wash and bread crumbs.

    1. Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin then brush each side with butter.

    2. Lay down the cheese slice, then the ham. Roll them tightly.

    3. Dip each roll-up in the egg wash then immediately cover them with panko bread crumbs.

    4. Secure each roll-up with a toothpick. Then deep fry.

1 to 2 pieces may already be enough to fit the biggest compartment, but you may also slice them into half so they’re easier to handle. You can even replace the ham with bacon for other days!

    Dessert Skewers

Maybe not all kids are fond of fruits. But may these can help you do the trick.

    1. Cut up the barbecue sticks in a size that’ll make them fit a bento box compartment. (You may also use toothpicks if you prefer.)

    2. Choose 2-3 kinds of fresh fruits that you think your kid will like. Slice them into small cubes or little pieces to make them like mini fruit kebabs.

    3. In the smallest compartment, put chocolate syrup, caramel, or melted white chocolate as dip for the fruits. You may also add breadsticks, cookies, or marshmallows so they’ll enjoy with the fondue-like dessert.

*Next time do this for veggies too!

    1000x1000-2.jpg
    1000x1000-3.jpg

    Mini Egg Surprise

Meatballs are definitely an all-time kids favorite. Make them more fun and healthy by using this recipe:

    1. Prepare your usual meatball mixture.

    2. Boil some quail eggs. Once cooked and cooled for you to handle, peel them.

    3. Now roll each meatball but this time with a quail egg inside.

    4. Roll them in bread crumbs, then deep fry.

    5. Make sure to dry them with a paper towel before putting inside the bento box to avoid them getting soggy.

    LAST TIPS:

    • Use tools that’ll spark your creativity. Just like using cute cookie cutters for sandwiches, eggs, and pancakes.

    • The more colorful the better! Remember the more fun your decorations are, the more appealing it’ll be for your kid.

    • Mix and match! You don’t want your kid to get the same combinations for every school day.

    • Don’t forget to include a bonus treat to make your kid look forward to opening the bento box each day - may it be gummy bears, chocolate, or jelly beans. That way, they’ll learn that it’s okay to eat these things as long as they still eat healthy.

    • Don’t forget to use fun and dependable lunch boxes that are just as cute as they are compact - like the California Home Goods Multi-Color Bento Box

Moving Tips for First Time Homeowners

Featuring: the California Home Goods Moving Foam Pouches

    1200x620.jpg

Moving into a home you can finally call ‘yours’ is one hell of a crazy emotional roller coaster ride. While the idea of moving into your very own space can seem exciting, the process of getting settled in can be daunting — especially if you’re doing it for the first time.

To help you move into your new home without a hitch, we’ve listed down a few foolproof moving tips to successfully relocate and to keep your sanity during the whole process:

    1000x1000-1.jpg

    Declutter

Tackle the hardest task first. It’s really a challenge to determine which items you’re willing to leave behind. It’s arduous alright, but just keep in mind that the less items you bring, the easier and faster it’ll be for you to be done settling in.

    Divide and Conquer

Pack your home by rooms and areas. Start with the rooms that you don’t use on a daily basis like your garage or storage room. That way, you can start packing way ahead without having to mess up what you’ve packed just because you need something from that room or area.

    1000x1000-2.jpg

    1000x1000-3.jpg

    Color Code

To make it less tiring for you and even the movers (in case you’re hiring professional help), organize everything you’re moving by using colored stickers.

Place the colored sticker on each box or bag, then put a matching colored sticker on the room or area in your new home where it’s supposed to go to..

Yes you can always write on the boxes and describe everything inside it, but let’s face it, even after doing so, somehow you still need to explain or instruct everything to everyone who’ll help. By color coding, all they have to do is simply match the colors!

    Use proper supplies

Investing in the right kind of packing and moving supplies can make a whole lot of difference.

Of course, getting boxes (but lots of them) is a must. But also know that some items require their own packing and moving strategy. Just like your precious China, glassware, and fragile collectibles - to protect them while in transit, use the reliable and durable California Home Goods Foam Wrap Pouches.

    7.jpg

The secret to a stress-free move is summed up into one word: organize! Yes, being meticulous and systematic could entail a extra work. But in the end, you’ll be more than thankful once it’s time to unpack and arrange your new home.

So with these tips, plus our high-quality moving foam sheets that you can use for your valuables, fragile kitchen items, furniture, and more, you’ll be happily done with relocating in no time!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Now let's get real -- because all of us know this by heart, we as parents tend to let our kids eat the same old cereals, waffles, or even just milk and cookies only to make sure they don't leave the house with an empty stomach.

But don't give up now. No matter how hard it is to make our kids realize that fruits and vegetables aren't their enemies, we just have to do our best until something works for them.

Good thing we have the perfect solution: delicious yet healthy (they don’t need to know that) smoothies! Instead of the usual milk, let them drink these fun and tasty smoothies using our cute glass bottles with retro straws.

Here are 3 of our favorites:

    Choco-Banana Peanut Butter Veggie

Again, you don’t even have to mention its name. The important thing is, this healthy smoothie looks just as good as a chocolate milkshake, your child may not even ask you what’s inside it. To whip this up, you’ll need:

    • 1 frozen chopped banana (peeled)

    • 1 cup tightly-packed fresh spinach

    • 1 cup milk (your choice — dairy milk, almond milk, etc.)

    • 3 tbsps peanut butter

    • 3 tbsps unsweetened cocoa powder

    • 2 tbsps chia seeds (optional)

    • 1-2 tbsps honey (if needed)

    • ½ tsp vanilla extract

    1000x1000-2.jpg

    1000x1000-3.jpg

    Sunshine Smoothie

Make your kid drink this nutrient-packed smoothie that looks bright, tropical, and will make him/her look forward to summer vacation. With these few ingredients you can already make this

    • ½  cup baby carrots

    • ½ cup orange juice

    • 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks

    • ½ cup frozen ripe mango chunks

    • 1 tbsp honey

    • ¾ cup Greek yogurt

    • Low-fat whipped cream for topping (optional)

    A few tips and reminders…

    • Same procedure applies to all. Simply put all the ingredients in your blender. Stop blending until you reach your desired smoothness.

    • Add some ice cubes or crushed ice into your mix to make it more fun and tasty for your kid. Plus, toppings like chocolate chips and whipped cream may help you entice them ones as well.

    • Frozen fruits are preferred for smoothies like this so they won’t get too mushy. You don’t want your kid to stop trying your smoothie just because of the texture. So if you’re planning to make one, you may buy the already frozen ones from the supermarket, or you can simply freeze them the night before.

    • Make them enjoy drinking these breakfast smoothies by serving it in the California Home Goods Vintage Glass Drinking Bottles. And just in case you’ve made more than 1 serving, don’t fret because these glass bottles have tight lids so you can store them up in your fridge, still good for the afternoon or the next day.

Once you start, there’s no turning back.

Some parents decide to start toilet training only to change their minds every now and then because the additional work of cleaning up after each accident or wet bed stresses them out. That’s a big no-no. You’re only confusing your child and letting yourself reach the goal much longer. Once you see signs of readiness in your child, make your decision then be committed to it.

    Decorate Cookies Like a Pro!

with the Chefmaster Double-sided Food Coloring Markers

    1200x620-1.jpg

Holidays are just around the corner! Whether it’s for your family to enjoy or for your budget-friendly holiday giveaways, making homemade cookies is always a great idea. But if you’re the type of person who just won’t settle for something that tastes good even if it looks a bit rough on the edges, then following our cookie decorating recipe will surely do the trick - of course with the help of these handy-dandy Chefmaster Double-sided Food Coloring Markers!

These professional-grade food decorating markers can of course be used directly onto your freshly baked cookies. However, if you want them to have that eye-catching sheen, looking more like a bakery product, then you’ve got to try this easy recipe.

    1000x1000-2.jpg

    What you’ll need:

    • Cut-out cookies to decorate

Then, all you need to do is:

    1. In a mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar and ¼ cup milk. With an electric mixer, blend until you get a nice smooth texture. Once you notice that it needs to smoothen a bit more, just add milk (do it one tablespoon at a time). Then add the corn syrup and almond extract, mix once more.

    2. If you want to decorate a cookie with colored icing, then simply use the liquid gel food coloring. Put one drop at a time and mix until you have reached your desired color. But if you do want to maximize the use of your Chefmaster Food Coloring Pens, we suggest you go with the plain white royal icing so you could color and draw away as you please!

    3. Before decorating, you’ll need to divide your icing mixture into two parts. Make the first one in the consistency- of a toothpaste, and other in the consistency of a syrup or crepe batter. Put each in their respective squeeze bottles, just make sure you can distinguish one from the other.

    4. Start putting your cookies’ background icing. Using the squeeze bottle, outline each cookie with the thicker icing. Then right after, put the flood icing starting from the middle. It’s best that you do one cookie at a time so that both the outline and flood icing are still in its liquid form. This way, your background sugar icing will have a smooth finish when it dries up - that there’s no way to distinguish the outline from the flood icing.

    5. Now it’s time to get your creative juices flowing! With the food coloring pens with fine and wide tips, you can create all the designs and patterns you want, in all the colors that you want! You may even embellish them with candy, edible pearls, sprinkles, and more. After decorating, just lay them on a cookie sheet to dry up.

    1000x1000-1.jpg

    A few tips:

    • The best part about using royal or sugar icing is that you need not be so keen about measurements and there’s less room for mistakes! The icing mixture itself will tell you what to do or what it’ll become. If it’s too runny, just add more powdered sugar. If it’s too thick, you can add more milk or even water. Then if you want the icing to dry more quickly, you may add acid (like lemon juice or cream of tartar).

    • If you prefer to use vanilla extract instead of almond, you can also do that. However, just expect that your icing won’t be as white. So this is more recommended if you’re planning on making colored icing background anyway.

    • The icing will dry hard. So if you’re thinking of giving them away as presents for the holidays, don’t be afraid to stack them up so they’ll fit into cute little tins or boxes.

    • Family bonding idea: bake different shapes and sizes of cookies and put on plain white sugar icing on them. Then let your kids draw, color, and decorate them using these amazing professional-grade food coloring markers.

    1000x1000-1.jpg

    Halloween Donut Pumpkins

    You’ll need:

To make these cute donut pumpkins, first cover each donut completely with powdered sugar. If you’re having a hard time covering the donut, you may also lightly brush each one with softened unsalted butter so that the the powdered sugar won’t easily come off. Just make sure you cover them fast with the powdered sugar right after so that the donut won’t absorb the butter completely. Then, with a piping bag, cover one side with orange frosting. You can also draw pumpkin faces on the orange frosting if you have some plain frosting left. Simply mix it with the black food coloring gel, then you could already draw different pumpkin faces on the donuts. Insert each one with a green M&M on top.

    Monster Cookie Pops

    You’ll need:

These little monster cookie pops are the best Halloween-themed treats you can make if you want to see how your kids can stretch their crazy imaginations and see more of their creative side! You may even set this as an activity for the Halloween party itself by making it a DIY make-your-own cookie pop buffet table. Maybe you could already insert a popsicle stick on each cookie already so the kids won’t have a hard time and end up destroying the cookies while trying to insert each stick. If the cookies are too hard, you may soften them by putting them inside the microwave for a few seconds under low heat. But basically, all you need to prepare for your kids are the different colors of buttercream frosting placed in separate bowls, then you could already make them decide what color they’d like, what kind of monster face they’ll make for each pop, and so on. This is so easy to make and so much fun!

    1000x1000-4.jpg

    Frankee Marshmallows on Sticks

    You’ll need:

These are not as easy as the cookie pops, but if you do have older kids, they’ll surely have fun making these Frankenstein Marshmallow Pops. First, cover each marshmallow with the fondant tinted with the green Chefmaster coloring gel. Careful not to ruin the marshmallow’s shape as this is the shape we’re really aiming for as Frankee’s head. Then, insert a stick in each covered marshmallow. Now, melt the semisweet chocolate chips in the microwave under medium heat until they’re smooth (but not too liquid-y though). Dip each end of the marshmallow into the chocolate to form the hair. While still holding the stick upside down (remember not to hold the pop in the right way while the chocolate hasn’t hardened yet as it will drip and may cover the whole face), gently push or drag the chocolate down to the base so you can create spikes of hair. Put the marshmallows with ‘hair’ back in the fridge so the chocolate will harden enough. You may lay them still upside down on wax paper. While waiting, prepare the things you’ll use to form Frankee’s facial features. Cut up the pretzel sticks into ⅛ in sizes. Set aside the candy eyeballs. And prepare your edible coloring pens. Once the marshmallow pops are all set, you can already place the cut-out pretzels as ears, put the candy eyeballs, and complete Frankee’s face by simply drawing on the marshmallow using the food coloring markers.

Mini Pretzel Ghosts, Aliens and Monsters

    You’ll need:

These cute and colorful pretzel monsters are not only delicious but also very easy to make that your kids won’t even ask your help while doing these! One thing you can do though is prepare everything they’ll need to design each monster or ghost that they want to make. So, put each ingredient in a separate bowl, plate, or tray. Then, melt the candy or prep the icing then place them in various bowls depending on how many colors you’d like your kids to play with. Tint each icing with the food coloring gel then mix. And voila!

Your kids can now go crazy in making these yummy covered pretzels with the candy eyes and other toppings.

    • Spinach

    • Green onions, chopped

    • Artichoke hearts

    • Whole wheat Sourdough cubes

    • 3 large eggs

    • 2 tsps Dijon mustard

Mix the mayo, oil, dijon, and honey in a bowl then evenly coat the chicken wings (better if you’ve already separated the wing and drummet part). Then place them on top of the rack. Bake for 40 minutes. Just check once in a while to see if you need to flip the wings.

While you wait for the wings, it’s time to make the casserole. Make sure all the veggies are completely washed, chopped at the right sizes, and dried. Combine the spinach, artichoke, sourdough cubes, and Monterey Jack cheese. Aftezr mixing thoroughly, transfer everything in a broiler safe baking dish prepped with cooking spray. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

Mix the Dijon mustard, milk, eggs, and Everything Bagel Spice Mix. Pour the batter onto the casserole. Sprinkle with more parmesan cheese and bagel seasoning spice mix on top. Put the casserole inside the oven.

After 40 mins, both the chicken and casserole should be ready. Plate up and enjoy!

Dinner:  Grilled Salmon with Sesame Cabbage Salad

    1 tbsp dark sesame oil

1 tbsp low sodium soy sauce

    1 tbsp light brown sugar

    2 tbsps rice vinegar

    Red and green cabbages

    Carrots and Green onions

    Cilantro and Sliced Almonds

    Everything Bagel Seasoning Spice Mix

Season your salmon fillet by rubbing each side with the CHG Everything Bagel Spice Mix, then drizzle with some lemon juice (about half a lemon is enough). Using an electric griller, cook your salmon fillet with a little bit of butter on the grill plate. Cook it skin side down for minutes, then flip. Cook the other side for about 2 mins, or until you’re satisfied with its doneness.

For your salad dressing, just mix the olive oil, dark sesame oil, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and light soy sauce using a whisk. Mix all your veggies and sprinkle generously with the Everything Bagel Seasoning Blend. Plate the salad veggies first before drizzling with the dressing. Add your grilled salmon to the plate. Sprinkle a bit more olive oil and lemon juice on your salmon. Enjoy!

Fun Lip Balm DIY Activity to Do With Your Kids

    1200x620-1 (3).jpg

No one enjoys having dry, chapped, burnt lips. Whether it’s summer/winter, a lip balm is now a must-have. But that doesn’t mean you have to go with expensive, store-bought chap sticks. You can make handy lip balms in the comforts of your home, without breaking your budget!

With California Home Goods Lip Balm Crafting Kit, you won’t only have enough lip moisturizing sticks for your family, you can also give these as perfect gifts/give-aways! The best part--you can even make this a fun bonding activity with your kids.

    We’ll show you how!

    1000x1000.jpg

Here are the equipment you’ll need:

    Easy-to-find ingredients you’ll use:

    • 1 Part Beeswax pellets or Soy Wax pearls

    • 2 Parts Shea butter, Cocoa butter, or Mango butter

    • 1.5 Parts Coconut Oil

    • .5 Part Vitamin E oil

    • Essential Oil/s of your choice

    • 1-2 drops of honey  (if you prefer your balm to have a bit of sweetness)

    1000x1000-2 (1).jpg

If you’re doing this DIY craft with your kids, remember to prepare/organize all things needed before actually calling your kids. As there are procedures that are ‘dangerous’ to them, where they could possibly burn their hands, you need to assign them easier tasks like measuring and mixing ingredients or dropping essential oils.

    • First, measure butter and oil; put in heatproof measuring cup. Melt in microwave for 30-45 seconds. Add wax to the measuring cup, enough to make ¾ cup of melted mixture. At this point, measuring cup will get really hot so make sure your kids won’t touch it!

    • Pour melted mixture into mixing bowls. To make different scents, pour them into separate bowls, then put the scents/flavors. Drop few essential/flavor oils, honey each bowl and mix.

    • Check the consistency of your lip balm. To do that, take out the stainless steel spoon you used for mixing, wait for few seconds until what’s left on the spoon hardens. If you want to make it softer, add more oil. If you want it to be harder, add more wax.

    • Finally, take out your lip balm crafting kit from California Home Goods. The best part about this kit is you won’t have to transfer your mixture into syringes. Just pour the mixture from the bowl to the crafting kit. One batch makes 50 tubes, really perfect in making different scents/flavors.

    • Wait for 1 to 2 hours for the lip balm to settle. You may use scraper to remove excess wax. Remove the tubes and put the caps immediately to keep them all sanitary. Done!

    1200x620-2 (1).jpg

California Home Goods Chapstick Making Kit is complete with 50-piece labels, so making different flavors won’t be a problem. You can definitely give these out to your friends, relatives, colleagues, and even your kids’ classmates!

5 Simple Ways to Naturally Freshen Up Your Home

    by California Home Goods

    1200x620-1.jpg

Opening your windows is the simplest and most affordable way to freshen the air in your home. But unfortunately, because winter is just right around the corner, we can no longer keep our windows open. And during this season of course, purifying and refreshing your home’s indoor air is still a must.

Now we all know that most store-bought air fresheners don’t really “freshen” the air and instead just covers up the air with nice scents. And what’s even more disappointing is that they even add more toxins into the air instead of removing them.

So if you’re all for smelling nice clean air inside your home and you value your health more than anything, then read up ‘coz we’ve got just the perfect solutions:

    1000x1000-1.jpg

    1000x1000-2.jpg

    1000x1000-3.jpg

    1000x1000-4 (2).jpg

1:  Put more (and we mean more) houseplants.

Everyone knows how plants do such a great job in purifying the air, and that of course includes the air inside our homes! So when we said ‘more’, we meant trying your best to put plant/s in each area of your home. There’s a wide array of indoor plants you can choose from and most of them don’t even require strict maintenance. You can also find plenty of ways to let the houseplants blend into your home’s aesthetic, just like our Decorative Geometric Planters. Get bamboo palms, golden pothos, aloe vera, peace lilies, or ferns for exceptional detoxification without effort.

2:  Cook up some citrus and spice staples.

Don’t throw away the orange, lime or lemon peels you used in cooking. Instead, boil them up with some herbs and spices in a big pot of water. You can choose to put cinnamon sticks, fresh rosemary, mint leaves, or other herbs you prefer. While doing so, don’t turn on your rangehood fan so that the steam and the smell will fill your home

3:  Make use of your favorite coffee.

Waking up to the smell of coffee is heaven to you, then make use of that to freshen up the air in your home, especially during the cold season. When you grind, brew, and bake coffee, it’ll already absorb the powerful odors in your kitchen, plus it will sure enliven your senses. And don’t throw those coffee grounds! Gather them up and place them in small containers like ashtrays, ramekins, or small bowls and distribute those in different parts of your home to naturally absorb bad odors. Put those near trash bins, in pet areas, behind the toilet seat, or near your kitchen stove.

4:  Make a natural carpet deodorizer.

If there’s one thing in your home that absorbs most of the odors and bacteria, that’ll be your carpet, right? So if you truly want to freshen up your home, you must not forget your carpet! Apart from of course keeping it clean, you can freshen up your carpet or carpet flooring every now and then with this powder deodorizer: a mixture of ½ cup baking soda, 2 tsp dried rosemary, and lavender essential oil. Just sprinkle the powder mixture, let it sit for 20 minutes, then vacuum up!

5:  Hang bamboo charcoal bags in and around your home.

If you’re a fan of effective yet effortless products, especially when it comes to keeping your home fresh and clean, then our Bamboo Charcoal Deodorizer Bags are simply must-haves in your humble abode!  With the specially formulated carbon activated bamboo charcoal inside these nice little bags, you already have effective yet all-natural odor eliminators, dehumidifiers, and air purifiers inside your home. Do you have such picky eaters at home? Can your kids endure not eating at all if they see that only veggies are available for dinner? Then if yes is your answer to these questions, then you already know that forcing, bribing, or pressuring them to eat veggie dishes won’t cut it any longer. But as with any problem, there’s always a solution! Baby steps first: take your kids’ favorite food and incorporate veggies into them, gradually. When we say gradually, start with the veggies that aren’t really bitter or will perfectly blend into the taste of the dish, then once your kid is already used to it, you can choose the more “unpleasant” veggies next.

To give you an idea, here are recipes of the 3 most kid-friendly foods only they have veggies in them:

    1000x1000-1.jpg

    Pizza Roll-ups

Know any kid who doesn’t like pizza? Well we sure don’t. So we know that once you lay out the veggies on top of the regular pizza, there’s still a chance that your kid will just take the veggies out before eating it. So, make it into a pizza roll-up!

    INGREDIENTS:

    • Mina pizza dough or tortilla

    • Your favorite marinara or pizza sauce

    • Eggplant, thinly sliced

    • Diced tomatoes or Sliced Cherry tomatoes

    • Pepperoni

    • Basil leaves

    • Fresh Spinach

    • Mozzarella Cheese

    • Parmesan Cheese

    • Butter, melted

Cook your marinara or pizza sauce, then once it’s almost done, put the basil leaves and diced tomatoes. Don’t try to smash or crush the tomatoes. Set aside. Lay out your dough or tortilla. Spread the sauce. Lay the thin eggplant slices first and put a pepperoni on each. Put some spinach leaves. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Generously put mozzarella cheese on top. Now roll the pizza, secure it with cute toothpicks. Brush each roll-up with butter then quickly roll in parmesan cheese.

Put your pizza roll-ups in the stainless steel taco holders and bake them in the oven for about 15-20 mins. Serve and enjoy!

    Cheezy-V Burritos

If your picky eater doesn’t really like tacos because of the lettuce, onions, and tomatoes that are so out there, then here’s the recipe that’ll change their mind about eating Mexican favorites.

    INGREDIENTS:

    • Whole wheat tortillas

    • Lean ground beef

    • Taco Seasoning

    • Cooked rice, optional (if you think your kids like rice in their burritos)

    • Cooked pinto beans

    • Chopped yellow and green bell peppers

    • Chopped onions

    • Chopped tomatoes

    • Finely shredded lettuce

    • Olive oil

    • Mozzarella, Cheddar, Jack Cheese

In a skillet, cook the ground beef until browned. Remove all the excess oil. Add in the onions and green peppers in olive oil until they’re tender. Add the cooked beans. Mix in the cooked rice and put enough taco seasoning. Mix well. Lay each tortilla flat then spread the mixture from the center outwards, leaving about ¼ from the edge. Place the tomatoes and shredded lettuce preferably in the inner center part. Sprinkle with the 3 cheeses. Roll up the burrito. Then, seam side down, put a burrito in each compartment of the stainless steel taco holders. You may sprinkle more cheese on top of each burrito. Put in the oven and bake for just about 10-15 mins. Serve with fun dips like guacamole, sour cream, and nacho cheese.

    1000x1000-3.jpg

    Deep Fried BBC Bombs

BBC stands for Bacon-Broccoli-Cheese. Sounds like a fun and tasty combination, right? But if your kiddo’s not a fan of those green flower-like veggies, then this is the perfect food to make! If it’s cheesy, has bacon, and deep fried, they’ll definitely love it!

    INGREDIENTS:

    • Melted butter

    • Pre-made refrigerated biscuit dough (can be bought in grocery stores)

    • Broccoli florets, blanched (may be sliced into smaller pieces if you want)

    • Shredded Cheese (sharp cheddar or cheddar blend)

    • Chopped bacon, cooked (fried until crispy)

    • Italian seasoning

    • Salt and pepper

    • Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. With a rolling pin or just your hands, flatten the dough into 4-inch rounds. Place a few pieces of broccoli, about 2 tablespoons of cheese, and bacon in the center. Wrap the dough around it and press the edges to make sure they’re sealed well. Shape them just like bread sticks or chicken fingers so that later on, they’ll be easier to handle. In a baking pan or tray, line each one side by side.

Then, a small bowl, whisk butter with italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Brush on top. Sprinkle generously with parmesan cheese. Put in the oven and bake for about 16-18 minutes until golden brown.

To serve, put the BBC Bombs in your stainless steel taco holders. And prepare different kinds of dipping sauces so your kids could enjoy - like ranch, honey mustard, ketchup, sour cream & chive, etc.

5 Things You're Doing That Ruin Your Home's Flooring

Admit it or not, your home’s flooring is one of your biggest investments. And because it’s considered as one of the most used and abused parts of the house, choosing the right kind of flooring for your abode is just the tip of the iceberg. What matters more is that you know how you could make the most out of your investment. Regardless if your home has hardwood, ceramic, laminate, marble, or engineered wood floors, it is but essential that you know how to take good care of them so that they’ll look as good for a longer period of time.

But contrary to common belief, it is simply not enough that you clean and/or polish your floors. Proper maintenance also includes knowing the things you shouldn’t do to your floors.

So in order to maintain the beauty of your home flooring and to keep it from deteriorating prematurely, quit doing these 5 mistakes, stat:

    1000x1000-1.jpg

    Keeping furniture legs unprotected.

Once you ignore the importance of using furniture pads, you are also causing harm to your floors. As you push around big pieces of furniture, push and pull dining chairs every meal time, and even when you plop on your sofa (causing it to move), know that this causes further damage every single time. Furniture pads make from rubber or felt do not only protect the furniture legs but more importantly, your floors.

Using generic products to clean and shine your floors.

We all know that every type of flooring has its own required maintenance. But that also goes without saying that you can only use a specific set of products to clean them and make them sparkle and shine. For example, ordinary store-bought wax say they will make your floors look as good as new. Well, they may really do that - but what most us don’t know is that once you do use those type of floor waxes often, you are actually causing more damage to your flooring (especially on wood) because of the oils they contain that degrade the polyurethane faster.

Bottomline is, it’s totally fine if you want to DIY when it comes to maintaining your home flooring. The important thing is, you only use the right kind of products for your floors.

    1000x1000-2.jpg
    1000x1000-3.jpg

    Wearing shoes inside your home.

You don’t have to be Asian just to follow the “no shoes inside” rule in your home. As a matter of fact, you should really consider applying that same rule in your home (especially if you have kids). Shoes you’ve just worn outdoors could really cause damage to your floors, just as how your pet’s nails can. The accumulated dirt and the little pebbles on the soles and heels of your footwear can scratch your floors; not to mention they do even more harm when it rains or snows.

Shoes do not only make our floors dirty but they also cause premature wear and tear. So apart from using the usual boot mat or tray whenever the weather’s not really nice, try keeping your shoes in a special area and get used to just wearing soft and comfy slippers whenever you’re wandering inside your home.

    Being unattentive pet owners.

Once you fail to keep your pet’s nails trimmed. Every time you forget to clean up your pet’s pee or poo immediately. And when you allow pet stains to remain untreated, you’re causing much damage to your home’s flooring. The longer you keep these ‘simple’ things unaddressed or neglected, you’re not only letting in dirt, causing germs, and harboring bad odors in your home, but you’re also making the flooring’s condition a lot worse than it seems - only to find out that it’s already a hefty and unexpected maintenance expense on your end.

    1000x1000-4.jpg
    6.jpg

Skipping the welcome mats and rugs.

Many of you may think that placing rugs and mats in and around your home is not really necessary. Well, that’s where you’re wrong. Like what we’ve said earlier, the dirt and other particles underneath our footwear cause more damage to our floors than what we may think.

Placing door mats and welcome rugs encourage not only your family but also your guests to wipe their shoes (or feet) first before entering. Thus, by simply having rugs in the high-traffic areas of your home, you’re reducing the chances of floor damage. In the same way, putting rugs near your kitchen sink or counter may lessen floor tile damage as it keeps it from getting wet.

While we cannot stress the importance of using floor rugs and entry mats more, we urge you to invest in the right kind of indoor and outdoor rugs for your home. Don’t just go and buy that door mat simply because it looks nice or because it goes well with your home’s style and design. Choose the one that’s going to provide the ultimate protection for your floors - one that’s weather-proof, waterproof, non-slip, dust-resistant, and most of all, one that will work hard to scrape all the dirt and other particles from your shoes - exactly like the California Home Goods Ribbed Indoor Outdoor Rugs!

Make the wise choice of buying these top-notch rugs to protect one of your biggest investments!

    • black pepper (freshly ground)

    • 2 tablespoons fresh chives (chopped)

    • 110 grams gruyere cheese (AOP, very finely grated)

    • 300 milliliters double cream

    • 150 grams bacon (heavily cured, finely chopped)

    • 6 slices streaky bacon (very thin)

    1. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Place the milk in a saucepan, add the thyme, bay leaf and nutmeg, and bring to a simmer. Turn off the heat and leave to infuse for a few minutes. While the milk is infusing, generously grease six ramekins.

    2. Heat a frying pan until hot, add the olive oil and bacon and cook until the bacon is crisp. Remove and place on a plate lined with kitchen paper to drain all the fat

    3. Melt the butter in a saucepan and add the flour and mustard powder. Combine and cook for a couple of minutes until a nutty aroma is released

    4. Strain the infused milk, pour it slowly into the saucepan containing the flour and mustard and whisk continuously until thick. Separate the eggs, keeping both the yolks and the whites. Then beat the egg yolks into the sauce and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Allow to cool slightly

    5. Whisk the egg whites in a clean bowl until firm, adding a pinch of salt. Then add one-third of the egg whites to the soufflé base mix and beat in. Fold in the chives then carefully fold in the remaining egg whites

    6. Spoon the mixture into the buttered ramekins and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the tops begin to brown. Remove from the oven and set aside

    7. Preheat the grill to high. Meanwhile, warm the double cream in a saucepan and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Increase the temperature and cook until the volume of liquid has reduced by one third. Add the crispy bacon to the cream and mix well. If needed, add some more salt and pepper.

    8. Pour the cream into six serving bowls and turn the gruyère and bacon soufflés out onto the cream. Cover the soufflés with the grated gruyère cheese and place under the grill. Once golden-brown and bubbling, remove from the grill.

    9. Fry or bake thin bacon strips then garnish. Serve and enjoy!

Steak and White Cheddar Egg Souffles

Get a hold of these ingredients to make this::

    • 5 eggs

    • 2 tablespoons half-and-half

    • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

    • 1/2 teaspoon salt

    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (Coarse)

    • 1 shallot (diced)

    • 2 garlic cloves (minced)

    2.jpg
    • 1/4 cup chives (chopped)

    • 2 cups sharp white cheddar cheese

    • 2 tablespoons olive oil

    • 2/3 pound round steak (beef, finely chopped)

    • 1 roll dough (Pillsbury Crescent)

    1. In a medium saute pan on medium heat, heat the olive oil. Once hot, add the chopped steak and cook until cooked, about 5-10 minutes. Remove the steak from the pan.

    2. Leaving the remaining drippings and oil in the pan, add the shallots and cook until soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Return the steak back to the pan and reduce heat on low-medium.

    3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, half and half, and heavy cream. Add the salt and pepper as well. Pour the egg mixture into the pan with the steak mixture. Allow the eggs to scramble slightly, only 2-3 minutes. The eggs should be slightly scrambled but still runny. Remove from heat and set aside.

    4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and butter 4 ramekins and set them on a large baking sheet.

    5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and cut into four squares (large enough to cover the ramekins and with some of the dough hanging from the edges) . Place the dough over the ramekins and press the bottom into the pan and along the sides. Sprinkle ¼ cup of white cheddar cheese into the bottom of the pans. Take a large mixing spoon, fill the ramekins with one scoop of the egg mixture and top off with ¼ cup of cheese and sprinkle the chives on top. Fold the flaps of the dough on top of the souffle and bake for 15 minutes until edges are golden brown. Allow to cool, remove from pan, and serve.

Baileys Chocolate Soufflé with Cream Anglaise

What’s a romantic meal without a fancy dessert? So to level up the much-expected chocolate souffle, give it a nice twist with the Bailey’s Irish Cream. With this mouth-watering dessert amped up with a lil boozy, you’ll surely get your passionate evening started!

TO MAKE The Baileys Chocolate Souffle:

    • ½ cup milk

    • ¼ cup + 6 tbsp sugar

    • 2 tsp cornstarch

    • 1 tsp vanilla extract

    • 5 oz dark chocolate, chopped

    • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

    • ¼ cup Bailey’s® Irish Cream liqueur

    • 10 egg whites at room temperature ½ tsp cream of tartar

    1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Lightly butter 6-1 cup soufflé or other 1 cup baking dishes. Sprinkle the inside of the ramekin cups with sugar and tap out any excess. Place the baking dishes onto a baking tray.

    2. Whisk the milk, ¼ cup of the sugar, the cornstarch and vanilla in a small dish and set aside.

    3. Melt the chocolate and butter in a small sauce pot over low heat, stirring constantly until melted.Stir in the milk mixture in 2 additions, whisking until evenly blended (the mixture will be a thick paste and may look a little grainy, but that is to be expected – it will smooth out after the whites are folded in) Stir in the Bailey’s® and keep the chocolate paste warm over low heat, stirring occasionally, transfer the warm chocolate to a large bowl.

    4. Whip the egg whites and cream of tartar until they are foamy then slowly pour in the remaining 6 tbsp of sugar and continue to whip until the whites hold a medium peak when the beaters are lifted. Fold in a third of the whites into the warm chocolate and quickly but gently fold them in – they will deflate quite a bit, but that’s expected. Fold in the remaining two thirds of the batter until incorporated then pour this into the prepared soufflé dishes

    5. Bake the soufflés for 10 to 12 minutes until the tops take on a dull look, but the inside still looks shiny and soft where a crack may form. Serve the souffles in the ramekins.

FOR THE Creme Anglaise (you may want to make this ahead of time):

    • 125ml heavy cream

    • 125ml milk

    • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

    • 3 egg yolks

    • ½ tsp vanilla

In small saucepan, heat together cream, milk and 1 tbsp of the sugar over medium heat until bubbles form around the edge.

In a bowl, whisk egg yolks with remaining sugar; whisk in hot cream mixture in thin stream. Stir back into pan; cook, stirring constantly, until thick enough to coat spoon, 2 to 3 minutes.

Strain into clean bowl; stir in vanilla.

Place plastic wrap directly on surface; refrigerate until cold, at least 1 hour.

    1200x620-2.jpg

PUT IT TOGETHER:  After baking the souffles, serve by putting some of the creme anglaise inside the souffle with a spoon through the crack on top. Arrange on a dessert plate with some dark chocolate pastilles or dark chocolate chips. You may also serve more of the creme anglaise on the side. Enjoy!

6 Essential Tips for Post-Injury Self Care

With the California Home Goods Self Adherent Wrap Bandages

    1200x620-1 (1).jpg

Accidents are inevitable. And even if you say ‘you’re just at home’, no matter how hard you try to keep your houses safe, unfortunately though, the most common accidents happen there. But luckily, even though you’ve burned yourself while working in the kitchen, fallen down on a flight of stairs, had a heavy object fall on your toes, slipped on a wet bathroom floor, sprained your ankle while playing in the yard, or badly pulled a limb after lifting something improperly, it wasn’t something too serious to have you confined in the hospital. Yes, it’s painful and not to mention a burden; but you still have to be grateful that what happened to you is something you could treat and take care of in the comforts of your home (regardless if you’re living alone or with your family).

But keep in mind that your recovery is dependent on how you’re going to help yourself. If you want to recover without complications and bounce back to your normal activities a lot sooner, then knowing the proper way to do self-care after an injury is but essential.

While we understand that the help of health and medical professionals may be best, remember that because it’s your body and your health we’re talking about, you have to take full responsibility for it - whether you like it or not.

As the proud makers of the CHG First Air Self-Adherent Wrap Bandages, we’re to equip you with the most important things to remember if you want to recover from your injury at the soonest possible time:

    1000x1000-3.jpg

    1000x1000-2.jpg

    1000x1000-1.jpg

    1000x1000-4.jpg

    1000x1000-5.jpg

    1000x1000-6.jpg

    1. Know the RICE Method

Many people who were trained on doing First Aid are familiar with this. If not, this is something you should know too. If your injury isn’t too serious and doesn’t involve the eyes, you may do the RICE procedure:

R - est the injured area and immobilise it as possible

I - ce the injured area for at least 20 minutes

C - ompress the injured area by wrapping it with a reliable tape/wrap to prevent swelling

E - levate the injured area above the heart level

    2. Nourish your body well

Some may think that once they’re injured and taking their time to recover at home, it’s the perfect opportunity to gorge on sweets and junk food. But that shouldn’t be case.

Your diet - everything you put inside your body - can make or break your (speedy) recovery. While we understand that you may not have the biggest appetite, but try your very best to make every meal count. Incorporate as much protein as you can because this ‘building block’ what your body needs to heal. Stay hydrated. Avoid fatty foods and those high in sugar.

    3. Relax and Be Patient

In this case, we’d have to take the cliche literally: ‘Time heals all wounds.’ Give yourself and your body enough time to heal. Rushing your recovery may only lead to further complications.

Yes, you may have a ton of work piled up in your office or maybe your home’s a mess because you can’t do your normal tasks. But remember that nothing good would ever come out of forcing your body to recover. So take one day at a time. Be optimistic.

    4. Keep moving but ease into it

Rest is important in recovery but know that staying in bed 24/7 won’t speed up your recovery either. Begin with simple activities like walking around the house, watering some plants, or even tackling honey-dos that you have put off before before like organizing your closet.

Just take extra precautions depending on your injury and rest whenever you need it. The important thing is, you’ll keep your blood flowing by moving.

    5. Watch out for complications

Pay attention to what’s happening to your body. No symptom is too simple. Keep in mind that it is best to ask the silliest questions than not to ask at all. So if you feel any kind of pain,

if you notice in your body something out of the ordinary, or if you simply think there’s something wrong, ask your physician immediately.

    6. Don’t skimp on quality self-care tools

Yes, you’ve probably saved yourself from the hefty medical bills; but that doesn’t mean you can choose just any kind of medication or first aid equipment in order to lessen your expenses. We know that your budget is on your mind when these things happen because you can’t attend to your work or business.

But also know that once you deprive yourself of top-quality medical supplies and self-care tools, you’re also slowing down your recovery or worse, leading yourself to complications. Don’t self-medicate, ask for prescriptions. Know the proper wound dressing and wrapping accessory your kind of injury needs. Trust only safe products from reliable brands.

Exactly like our very own Self-Adherent Elastic Bandage Wraps. Thinking of going on an ultimate road trip with your family for the holidays? Without a doubt, using your old camper is the best way to go about it. You can travel to many states and cities without really feeling that you’re away from home.

For RVs that aren’t used too often, it’s almost always expected that you’d be dealing with nasty smells-- musty, damp, icky, rancid, stale, stuffy. However you want to call it, or even when you can’t really find the words to describe those unpleasant odors in your RV, you know that ignoring simply won’t cut it.

Because they say that scents are powerful reminders of memories, you don’t want your holiday adventure to be remembered and associated with that foul stench. So read on and you’ll soon find out the best ways to get that stink out before your family heads out:

Never miss any nook or cranny!

Never miss any nook or cranny!

    Deep Clean Before Camping In

Not a thing in this world is ever going to smell clean if it isn’t clean. So if deep cleaning your RV is not a part of your road trip preparation, then you can forget about those nasty smells going away.

Deep clean every inch of the toilet and shower. Scrub the sink, kitchen counter, oven, and burners. Vacuum and double check the crevices of shelves, cabinets, behind or underneath the furniture, and other fittings. Deep clean the carpet, or better yet, get rid of it. Disinfect your refrigerator.

      Avoid temporary fixes.

    Avoid temporary fixes.

    Invest in a Good Dehumidifier

If you really must spend a hefty amount for this much-awaited trip, consider getting a reliable dehumidifier to combat the high humidity, mold and mildew, and nasty odors in your RV. A small motor home like a camper will inevitably have an out-of-control moisture situation. Just keep in mind that even when you have more than enough money, choose not by brand or popularity. Instead, opt for one that’s energy-efficient, user-friendly, not too big and heavy, and has a longer lifespan.

No to dirty and stagnant water!

No to dirty and stagnant water!

    Care for Your Water System

Anything that holds up water for long is a contributor to your RV’s stench. Days or even a week before your road trip, clean out and sanitize your water tanks and toilet tanks so that no unpleasant smell will emanate from them. Use the classic bleach or a specialized tank cleaning solution, but don’t forget to rinse well (twice or more) before putting water back in it.

    1000x1000-g.jpg

    Stray from Perfumed Sprays

If you’re used to combatting odors with lovely-smelling atomizers (or even plug-ins), sorry to break your bubble but, those just won’t cut it. Yes, they do smell good. But the truth is, they’re just masking the bad odors. Worse, they may even mix with the stench, making your RV smelling even weird and intolerable.

If you simply can’t do without those fragrances, make sure that you attend to the dirt, trash, bacteria, mold, and nasty odors first before using them.

Never Underestimate the Power of Bamboo Charcoal

    1200x620-2.jpg

The most cost-effective (not to mention effortless) way to battle nasty RV odors is to use carbon-activated bamboo charcoal bags. They might look like harmless rustic pillows, but they will simply work wonders in tight spaces like your camper. The best part about these charcoal bags is, for a budget-friendly price, they don’t just absorb the bad smells. They even trap moisture (that causes mold and mildew) air-borne bacteria and allergens. Small charcoal bags are enough for spaces like inside the fridge, cabinet, or under the sink while the bigger bags can stay lying around in the kitchen, living area, or the driver’s side.

If you need odor absorbers and dehumidifiers that work 24/7 without needing energy (your energy and electricity, that is), charcoal bags are your best bet. But don’t choose just any kind of charcoal bag. To make sure you won’t get disappointed, choose the best one there is: the California Home Goods Bamboo Charcoal Air Purifying Bags. Even the world’s first video wiki, Ezvid Wiki, has said so. After an intense 23-hour research, the California Home Goods Natural Deodorizers has been hailed Top 9 in the Wiki of 2018’s Best RV Dehumidifiers, and is even named as the Best Inexpensive Dehumidifier.

So don’t hesitate now. While you’re still preparing for that trip, order your preferred bamboo charcoal bags value pack today! We have different sizes of deodorizing bags and varieties of bundle packs available to suit your needs.

    KETO:  Loaded Cauliflower Bake

Honestly, who wouldn’t love a completely satisfying yet nutritious meal with bacon and cheese? And what makes this even better is that it keeps you stay on your keto diet - low in carbohydrates and tad bit more on fat, but still just on the right amount of calories you need.

    Here are the ingredients:

    • 1 large head cauliflower, cut into florets

    • 2 tbsp. butter

    • 1 cup heavy cream

    • 2 oz. cream cheese

    • 1 1/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese, separated

    • Salt and pepper to taste

    • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

    • 1/4 cup chopped green onions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Then, in a large pot of boiling water, blanch cauliflower florets for 2 mins; drain to dry. In a medium pot, melt together butter, heavy cream, cream cheese, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper until well-combined.

In a baking dish, add cauliflower florets, cheese sauce, all but 1 tbsp. crumbled bacon, and all but 1 tbsp. green onions. Stir together. Top with remaining shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, and green onions.

Bake until cheese is bubbly and golden and cauliflower is soft, about 30 minutes. Now slice a portion enough for the largest compartment of your bento lunch meal container. Then save the rest for another day by simply putting it in the fridge.

Pack your meal: For the other 2 compartments of the CHG Meal Prep Containers, you may put 1 snack and 1 dessert just like one for unsalted almonds and the other for blueberries.

PALEO:  Chicken Salad with Bacon & Scallions

Both the Ketogenic and Paleolithic diets focus on less-to-no carbs. But the difference between the two is that while the Keto manipulates the three micronutrients of fat, carbohydrates, and protein, Paleo focuses strictly on basically no-fat, no-dairy, no-grain, and no-processed food type of diet, regardless of how much of the micronutrients they contain.

Anyway, this chicken salad made with a good homemade mayo or dressing as you may call it is completely Paleo friendly. Even if it’s soy- and dairy-free, it’s completely packed with the nutrition and flavor you need. And besides, what food doesn’t get better with bacon?

    Here are the ingredients:

    • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts

    • 8 slices nitrate free bacon sugar free, chopped into smaller pieces

    • 1/2 cup homemade mayo or Paleo friendly mayo

    • 2 scallions green onions, thinly sliced

    • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

    • salt and pepper to taste

    • Lettuce or other leafy greens (optional)

Brown the bacon in a large saute pan over med-hi heat. Once they’re nice and crisp, remove from the pan and set aside to drain excess oil on paper towels. Don’t remove the rendered fat in the pan. Turn down the heat to medium. Pound the chicken breasts to ½ inch thickness. Sprinkle with garlic powder then salt and pepper. Fry each side for about 2-3 minutes. When it’s cooked, set it aside or put it in the fridge to cool.

Now just in case you’re in the mood to do your very own Paleo mayo, you can do it now while waiting for the chicken to cool down. In a tall container, put in 1 whole large egg, 2 tsp fresh lemon juice, 2 tsp spice brown mustard, ¼ tsp salt, and ¾ cup light tasting olive oil or avocado oil. Put your immersion blender down to the bottom of the container before turning on. Then set it to high and blend for about 30 seconds before slowly lifting it to the surface of the mixture, and blend another 20 seconds or so or until completely creamy.

Get your chicken breast and chop it into bite-sized pieces. Then in a large bowl, toss together the bacon, chicken breast, scallions, and mayo. Season with salt and pepper if preferred. And top it on some lettuce to make it even healthier.

    VEGAN:  Lentil Bolognese Spaghetti

To create a veggie pasta is a sure-fire way to easily make you full and at the same time fuel you up for the rest of your day.  This hearty and satisfying dish will not only be great for lunch box meals but also for chill weekend nights because this recipe is so easy to make.

Here are the things you’ll need:

    • 1 pack of spaghetti

    • 1 tbsp olive oil

    • 1/2 red onion, diced

    • 1/4 cup of carrots, diced

    • 1/4 cup of zucchini diced

    • 2 cloves of garlic, minced

    • 1 - 398 ml can of Italian stewed tomatoes

    • 1 can of lentils

    • 1 - 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes

    • 1 tsp basil

    • 1/2 tsp oregano

    • 1/2 tsp onion powder

    • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

    • 1/2 tsp sugar (or another type of sweetener if you prefer it healthier)

    • salt and pepper

Cook pasta first. While you wait for the water to boil, you may already start making the bolognese sauce. Under medium high heat, saute the onions and garlic for a couple of minutes. Cook the carrots first. After about 3-4 minutes, add the zucchini and wait some more until the veggies are nice and soft (not too mushy though).

Now add the can of stewed tomatoes. Reduce the heat to medium and wait until the liquid is reduced. Lower the heat to low and add the crushed tomatoes along with your spices. Simmer for an additional 6 minutes or so. Keep tasting until you get it right according to your liking. Remove from direct heat and let it cool before packing.

Pack your meal: In the biggest compartment of the California Home Goods Meal Storage Containers, put the cooked pasta first (in the amount you can usually finish) then slowly pour the bolognese sauce over it. For the other compartments, we suggest you put a custom trail mix (dry nuts, seeds, etc.) in one, then a fresh fruit mix in the other (mix of berries, mix of tropical fruits, or just some orange slices if you like).

Pack your meal: Of course, the chicken and bacon salad goes to the biggest compartment of your meal tray or bento lunch box. Then, to make it even more complete, stuff the other compartments with some nuts (macadamia or almonds) on one side and then a fruit mix on the other (kiwi and berries is a great combo).

    Prosciutto-wrapped mini frittatas

Make a batch of these handy little bites that like cute egg muffins wrapped in salty pork goodness, keep them in the fridge, and then eat throughout the week with a simple green salad (or not).

Here’s what you need to gather:

    • 4 tablespoons fat (coconut oil, ghee, etc.), divided

    • ½ medium onion, finely diced

    • 3 garlic cloves, minced

    • ½ pound cremini mushrooms, thinly sliced

    • ½ pound frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed dry

    • 8 large eggs

    • ¼ cup coconut milk (the fatty stuff at the top of the can works best)

    • 2 tablespoons coconut flour

    • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

    • 5 ounces Prosciutto di Parma

    • Kosher salt

    • Freshly ground pepper

    • regular 12 cup muffin tin

Prep all the veggies and preheat your oven to 375°F. Heat half of the coconut oil over medium heat in a large cast iron skillet and sautéed the onions until soft and translucent. Add in garlic and mushrooms until fully rendered. Season with salt and pepper then put into a bowl to cool. Set aside.

In large bowl, beat the eggs with coconut milk, flour, salt, and pepper. Add in the sauteed mushrooms and spinach. Mix everything well.

Brush the remainder of the coconut oil into the muffin tray. Line each cup with prosciutto well, enough to cover the sides and bottom completely. Spoon the frittata batter onto each cup and top with the cherry tomato halves. Bake for about 20 minutes and rotating the tray at 180 degrees at halfway point.

Remember to let the frittatas cool down on a wire rack before putting inside the fridge or packing it in your ready-to-go meal containers.

    Chicken parmesan pizza casserole

So who wouldn’t want to bring this yummy delight for lunch? This may require a little bit more effort from you; but because you’re going to make this ahead, you can easily get portions for your daily meal and just keep it safe in the fridge for the next.

Prepare these ingredients to make this awesome dish:

In the same skillet, add more oil for frying. Slightly brown chicken pieces for 2 minutes on each side. Make sure the oil is hot but not smoking. Transfer chicken to a plate with paper towel.

Grease baking pan with olive oil. Spread a thin layer (about 5 tablespoons) of tomato mixture. Lay chicken breast fillet side by side. Stuff fried eggplant in each chicken breast fillet, about two slices per fillet. Spread the remaining eggplant around the baking pan. Spread tomato mixture generously on all chicken breast fillet. Sprinkle with parmesan and mozzarella. Top with pepperoni.

Bake in a preheated oven at 375 F for 25 to 30 minutes until chicken has been cooked thoroughly while parmesan and mozzarella are completely melted and slightly golden brown. Sprinkle with fresh parsley, if desired.
